【摘要】:Thetestmethodisdesignedtopredictthedeposit-formingtendenciesofengineoilinthepistonringbeltandupperpistoncrownarea.CorrelationhasbeenshownbetweentheTEOSTMHTprocedureandtheTU3MHPeugeotenginetestindepositformation.Suchdepositsformedinthering-beltareaofareciprocatingenginepistoncancauseproblemswithengineoperationandlongevity.ItisoneoftherequiredtestmethodsinSpecificationD4485todefineAPICategory-Identifiedengineoils.61.1Thistestmethodcoverstheproceduretodeterminethemassofdepositformedonaspeciallyconstructedtestrodexposedtorepetitivepassageof8.5gofengineoilovertherodinathinfilmunderoxidativeandcatalyticconditionsat285C.TherangeofapplicabilityoftheModeratelyHighTemperatureThermo-OxidationEngineTest(TEOSTMHT)testmethodasderivedfromaninterlaboratorystudyisapproximately10to100mg.However,experienceindicatesthatdepositvaluesfrom1to150mgorgreatermaybeobtained.1.2Thistestmethodusesapatentedinstrument,methodandpatented,numbered,andregistereddepositorrodstraceabletothemanufacturerandmadespecificallyforthepracticeandprecisionofthetestmethod.Note1ASTMInternationaltakesnopositionrespectingthevalidityofanypatentrightsassertedinconnectionwithanyitemmentionedinthisstandard.Usersofthisstandardareexpresslyadvisedthatdeterminationofthevalidityofanysuchpatentrights,andtheriskofinfringementofsuchrights,areentirelytheirownresponsibility.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.AlthoughnotanSIunit,thespecialname,litre(L)isallowedbySIforthecubicdecimetre(dm3)andthemillilitre(mL)fortheSIcubiccentimetre(cm3).1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
